FEEDING ZONE

• The feeding zone will be stocked with a wide spread of food and beverages for all riders.
• Family, friends and teams may purchase food and beverages at the Feed Zone, while waiting for riders to arrive.
• Charge your gps units at the Rapid Charge Solutions mobile charging station while you’re enjoying the spread of delicious food.
• All friends, family and team cars need to apply for accreditation to gain access to Little Eden.
• E-mail wesley@drakeevents.co.za to request Feeding Zone Accreditation. Each vehicle will pay R50 for access, which will entirely be donated to Little Eden.
• All friends, family and team cars are advised to arrive at Little Eden before 08H30 to avoid congestion with the lead cyclists arriving at the Feeding Zone. Access will be allowed after 08H30 but will be slower to allow for cyclists to access/exit the venue without vehicles interfering in the racing
• The feed zone will be open until 13H00 when we expect the last riders to arrive/depart.
• The proposed cut-off time for riders at the lunch-stop is 12H55. If you arrive at 12H55 or slightly after, your continuation in the race is at the digression of the marshals and management at the feeding zone.
• Drake Events want you to finish and will use discretion at all cut-off points to try keep you on the route, where possible.

*They also offer sanctuary to Pugs who are not adopted and to the many aged Pugs in their care.
*They rescue in excess of 210 Pugs a year.
*Their rescues receive an extremely high standard of care at the Benoni sanctuary which affords them a home-from-home experience.
*The rehoming criteria is also extremely strict. Pug Rescue SA do not believe in “there is a home, here is a dog”, they re-home ” the right Pug to the right home ” and have an extremely low return rate.
Pug Rescue SA also founded the Thanda Inja Project in 2014. The Thanda Inja Project takes place in the Gabon and Chris Hani Informal Settlements in Daveyton, Benoni. The community Pug Rescue SA assists is impoverished and mostly unemployed. A welfare organisation doing welfare work.
Every second Tuesday Pug Rescue SA together with Dr Bernie Eales and other volunteer veterinarians offer free basic veterinary care to the dogs, cats and sometimes livestock in the community. Pug Rescue SA have a feeding scheme where over 450 registered dogs and 80 cats receive a bag of food every two weeks.
Drake Events has committed to give back in 2022 and will donate R20 per entry at every outride throughout the year. However, it’s not just about donating. Drake Events will also volunteer time to assist and spend time at the Pug Rescue SA sanctuary in Benoni, as well as arranging special family days out at the sanctuary.

LET'S GIVE BACK

The Society believes that no matter how profoundly disabled a person may be, he or she is still a whole complete being, with a body; a mind; a spirit and a soul.
The children are grouped according to their abilities and behaviour. Many of the residents also suffer from mental illness, disturbed behaviour and multiple physical disabilities. They are cared for in specific groups where they feel comfortable and safe.
Some of the residents have been abandoned and marginalised by society. People with intellectual disabilities are particularly vulnerable to discrimination and live in social exclusion.
The full cost of caring per resident is R12 700 per month. This includes 24-hour nursing and medical care, specialised therapy, food and clothing. With the ongoing support of generous donors, the Society has been able to provide a loving Home to its residents.
There are various fundraising opportunities where the community is invited to assist. Please visit their website to find out how you can make a difference – https://www.littleeden.org.za/involved/
Through the various therapy programmes, the residents reach impressive milestones such as learning to walk or feed themselves. Others learn to hold a paint brush, wave or simply smile.

FAQ'S
ENTRIES & REGISTRATION
When do entries close?
Sunday 04 September, 2022
Can I enter on race day?
No, there will be no late entries allowed on race day.
Can I register on race day?
No, all number board and goodie bag collections must happen at one of the selected locations on Thursday, Friday or Saturday prior to race day. If you do not collect prior to race day, you will not be allowed to race with no timing board.
Can I use my SASeeding timing board?
No, we have custom timing boards specific to the event which will be in your goodie bag.
Can I substitute my entry?
Yes, all queries are to be directed to Peak Timing –
When will I receive the gpx file?
In the final week before the race, final event communication will be sent out, which will include the gpx file.

RACE DAY
When do I park?
There will be safe parking inside the venue at 83 Kirschner Road. Please DO NOT park on the street.
Where do I park if I'm racing the Small Beast, starting at 08H00?
Parking will be at the same parking area as the riders for the Big Beast. Just remember you might arrive when groups are starting. You will be required to wait for a group to depart to safely enter the venue.
Can I use a gravel bike?
Only for the brave! The route has a few rocky sections at the “three forests” section which will require portage of a gravel bike. There are also a few sections of dirt road with rougher terrain. Not technical, just rough, however it will require some good bike handling. Any portage over the few sections can not slow down the time you’ll make up on the rest of the route with a gravel bike.
98% gravel bike friendly… will you risk it for the biscuit?
Is the route technical?
No, the route is not technical. The “three forests” present a few technical challenges with very tight tree sections and rocky single track. There are other sections of the route that have rougher terrain but it is not deemed “technical”.
Is the route marked?
Yes, the route will be marked and will also have SAPS and Think Bike Marshals at static points BUT it is imperative you have the route on your GPS as there may be signage removed on route or an unmanned section.
What do I do if I get lost?
If you can, return back the way you came to the last Water Point. If you’re very lost, contact race management –
RELAY TEAMS

Two riders maximum. One rider will start at Pug Rescue Benoni and finish at Little Eden Bapsfontein. The second rider will start at Little Eden Bapsfontein and finish at Pug Rescue Benoni.
How does the second rider get to Little Eden Bapsfontein?
The second rider must drop off the first rider at Pug Rescue Benoni and then drive to Little Eden Bapsfontein. The first rider will then drive the vehicle back from Little Eden to Pug Rescue.
Do I get a medal if my partner doesn't finish?
If you are rider 2 and the first rider is stuck on the route and can’t continue, you may then start your ride from Little Eden. Someone will be on hand so you can notify them of the situation. If you finish your leg and your partner doesn’t finish theirs, you will still receive a medal.
